The Chain of Invention is built for a specific kind of student: bright, curious, prepared to read, willing to speak, and ready for something deeper than normal school enrichment.

Admission process

How it works

  1. Request a conversation. Parent begins with a short note about the student and the preferred cohort.
  2. Fit call. We discuss the student's curiosity, readiness, schedule, and whether the room is appropriate.
  3. Student check. The student answers a few questions and explains what they actually want to learn.
  4. Cohort placement. If accepted, the family selects WaterSound, Seaside, or online based on fit and availability.
  5. Deposit and onboarding. The seat is held after payment, then the student receives the first source packet.

Fit questions

  • What topics does your student pursue when no one is forcing them?
  • Where is school too easy, too narrow, or too disconnected?
  • Can the student prepare each week and speak every session?
  • Is the student willing to defend and revise a position?
  • Would the student enjoy a serious room on science, faith, AI, technology, origins, and meaning?

WaterSound

Tuesday and Thursday in-person seminar. Best fit for east-side resident families around WaterSound, Camp Creek, Alys, Seacrest, Rosemary, Inlet, and nearby communities.

Local

Seaside

Monday and Wednesday in-person seminar. Best fit for central and west 30A families around Seaside, WaterColor, Grayton, Blue Mountain, and nearby communities.

Online

Master lecture plus cohort

Students watch the polished weekly master lecture and then join a live seminar cohort for thesis rounds, questions, debate, and synthesis.

Student expectations
